چکیده

The paper discusses a case in which a new managerial approach was proposed to engender organizational learning from incidents, but became, in practice, a system oriented toward consensus, closure, and bureaucratic control -three well known “enemies” of organisational learning (Weick and Westely, 1996; Sitkin et al., 1994; Gherardi, 1999). We suggest that this puzzle can be explained if we focus on the discourse that allowed the approach to successfully circulate and diffuse. In particular, we develop the idea that the approach travelled on the wings of a „rhetorical package‟ which combined the discourses of „anxiety‟ and „reassurance‟. While the package (and its related socio-technical network) was very successful at sustaining the journey of the innovation, it also ended up reconfiguring the approach shifting the emphasis from organizational learning to control. 1 University of Warwick, Warwick Business School Coventry, CV4 7AL, UK phone: +44 (0)24 7615 0909 fax: +44 (0)24 7615 0498 [email protected]

The Effect of ascorbic acid injection into lateral ventricle on spatial learning and memory on adult male rats

Introduction: Ascorbic acid (AA) acts as an antioxidant in the Central nervous system (CNS) of the mammalians. It is released from the some nerve ending together with neurotransmitters. The results have shown that Ascorbic acid could affect learning as well as memory. In this study, we examined the effect of ICV injection of ascorbic acid on learning and memory by Morris water maze. Method: In...

Web Customer Modeling for Automated Session Prioritization on High Traffic Sites

In the Web environment, user identification is becoming a major challenge for admission control systems on high traffic sites. When a web server is overloaded there is a significant loss of throughput when we compare finished sessions and the number of responses per second; longer sessions are usually the ones ending in sales but also the most sensitive to load failures. Session-based admission...

Turing and the Integration of Human and Machine Intelligence

Philosophical discussion of Alan Turing’s writings on intelligence has mostly revolved around a single point made in a paper published in the journal Mind in 1950. This is unfortunate, for Turing’s reflections on machine (artificial) intelligence, human intelligence, and the relation between them were more extensive and sophisticated. They are seen to be extremely well-considered and sound in r...

Combining Learning and Programming for High-Performance Robot Controllers

The implementation of high-performance robot controllers for complex control tasks such as playing autonomous robot soccer is tedious, errorprone, and a never ending programming task. In this paper we propose programmers to write autonomous controllers that optimize and automatically adapt themselves to changing circumstances of task execution using explicit perception, dynamics and action mode...
